Hurricane Milton: Florida woman finds wedding ring lost for nearly a decade after storm
SUMMARY: After Hurricane Milton, Laura and Basil Yoro returned to their Palm Coast home and discovered a surprising treasure: her husband’s wedding ring, lost nearly a decade ago during a construction project. While surveying storm damage, Laura noticed a glint in the dirt, revealing the long-missing ring. Despite multiple searches over the years by landscapers, it had remained hidden until the hurricane’s rains unearthed it. Though they acknowledge the hardships others face due to the storm, the couple delight in the reunion with the emblem of their marriage, which, aside from some scratches, is in great condition.
After a challenging few days, Laura and Basil Yorio found a surprising silver lining following their evacuation from Hurricane Milton. Upon returning home to assess the damage, they discovered something unexpected in their backyard.

Georgia lawmaker proposes new childcare safety measures after toddler’s tragic death
SUMMARY: Following the tragic choking death of 16-month-old Jamal Bryant Jr. at a now-closed Brunswick daycare, Georgia lawmaker Rick Townsend is advocating for enhanced safety measures at childcare facilities. His proposed bill would mandate the availability of portable airway clearance devices to help remove obstructions from children’s airways. It also requires all childcare employees to be CPR-certified within 45 days of employment. Townsend emphasizes the need for these measures due to the vulnerability of young children and highlights the potential that these resources might have saved Jamal’s life. Additionally, he plans to introduce a bill for minimum liability insurance at childcare centers.

Trump should rethink revoking former officials’ security details, Tom Cotton says
SUMMARY: Sen. Tom Cotton, chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, urged President Trump to reconsider removing security protection from three former senior officials: John Bolton, Mike Pompeo, and Brian Hook. Cotton argued that their security is vital not only for them but also for the public, given ongoing threats from Iran due to their involvement in the 2020 drone strike on Gen. Qasem Soleimani. Trump had revoked their protection despite the Biden administration’s extension of security due to credible threats. Cotton emphasized that Trump’s decision could hinder future recruitment of qualified advisers for his administration.

Trump says inflation isn’t his No. 1 issue. So what will happen to consumer prices?
SUMMARY: Donald Trump, in his return to the White House, focused on reducing energy costs and tackling immigration, rather than directly addressing rising consumer prices. He downplayed inflation as his main concern, opting instead to blame former President Biden for high prices. While Trump aims to increase oil production, reduce regulations, and persuade companies to pump more, economists warn that his policies may inadvertently increase inflation. His proposals, including tariffs and deportations, could also raise costs. Trump is pushing for Federal Reserve rate cuts, while critics argue his focus is not on lowering costs for working-class Americans.
