SUMMARY: Meteorologist Pat Cinc discusses the rapid intensification of Hurricane Milton, now a Category 5 storm with winds of 175 mph and a pressure of 911mb. The storm, previously a Category 1, has become exceptionally powerful, posing a significant threat as it approaches the Yucatan Peninsula. Forecasts indicate a potential turn toward Florida, likely making landfall as a Category 3 hurricane, with storm surge estimates between 5 to 12 feet affecting various coastal regions, especially Tampa Bay. Residents are urged to evacuate and prepare for potentially devastating impacts, as wind patterns and pressure systems continue to influence the hurricane’s path.

The storm continues to intensify as it moves across the Gulf of Mexico. Milton is expected to reach peak intensity this evening before turning northeast to Florida. Texas will ‘lean into the pain’ after SEC women’s tourney title game loss
SUMMARY: Texas suffered a 64-45 defeat against South Carolina in the SEC women’s basketball tournament championship, primarily due to a poor second quarter where they were outscored 21-6.
