SUMMARY: Meteorologist Snow Buren from Fox 35 News provided an update on Hurricane Francine, located 386 miles southwest of New Orleans with winds at 75 mph. The hurricane is expected to weaken as it moves inland, but will bring significant rain, particularly to the east and north sides. Landfall is projected for late Wednesday, with 8-15 inches of rain in Louisiana and potential tornadoes from the storm’s outer bands. Remnants will move through Mississippi and towards Tennessee, and could regenerate into a new tropical storm impacting the Carolinas mid-September. While the storm poses risks, it may aid drought-affected areas.

Francine strengthened to become a Category 1 hurricane Tuesday night in the Gulf of Mexico, according to the National Hurricane Center. Hurricane Francine is expected to make landfall somewhere over Louisiana on Wednesday, the NHC said, with life-threatening storm surge and hurricane-force winds.

SUMMARY: The St. Petersburg City Council approved spending $55 million to repair Tropicana Field, including $26.3 million for roof replacement, after Hurricane Milton damaged it in October. Insurance and FEMA funds will cover some costs. However, Rays co-President Brian Auld doubts the repairs will be ready by 2026. The council delayed a vote on $333.5 million in bonds for a new $1.2 billion stadium, scheduled for 2028. The Rays argue the delay jeopardizes the project, having already spent $50 million. The team will play next season at George Steinbrenner Field in Tampa, paying $15 million to the Yankees.
