Hurricane Francine: 11 a.m. Wednesday update
SUMMARY: Hurricane Francine is currently experiencing strong wind shear, preventing further intensification. Significant impacts are expected along the Gulf Coast, particularly in Louisiana and Mississippi, with heavy to moderate rain and gusty winds of 25 to 35 mph persisting. Rainfall may increase through the afternoon and evening, particularly affecting the metro area after 3 PM. Wind gusts could reach 50 mph, posing a risk of localized power outages, especially in rain-soaked areas. While the heaviest rainfall is expected east of I-55, most of the state will see around 2 to 5 inches of rain, raising concerns about flash flooding.
