Hurricane Camille memorial moving to a new location
SUMMARY: The Hurricane Camille Memorial has been relocated to the Maritime and Seafood Industry Museum after the original land was sold. Reporter Brook Parker visited the new site and noted changes in the memorial’s layout. While the name plates of the 134 deceased were preserved, some parts of the old memorial, including a mosaic of the storm and a water feature, were not retained. The new memorial now has a fully concrete foundation with drainage to withstand future storms. The museum aims to preserve history and honor the deceased, with a grand reveal planned for August 17th, the anniversary of Hurricane Camille.
