Hunter Biden indicted on three federal gun charges
SUMMARY: Hunter Biden, son of President Joe Biden, has been indicted on three gun-related charges in Delaware. The charges include failing to disclose drug use when trying to purchase a firearm, as well as unlawful possession of a firearm while addicted to a controlled substance. The most serious charges carry a potential prison sentence of up to 10 years and fines of up to $250,000. The indictment does not include any tax crimes, which were part of a failed plea agreement. Special counsel David Weiss, who is also the U.S. attorney for Delaware, may pursue additional charges related to tax crimes in Washington, D.C., or California. Hunter Biden’s attorney stated that their client is still abiding by the terms of the diversion agreement for the gun charge. These charges come amid an impeachment inquiry into President Biden by House Republicans. President Biden has publicly acknowledged his son’s struggles with addiction and has defended him.
