How to keep kids safe in the Mississippi heat
SUMMARY: Pediatrician Catherine Phillippi from Trust Care Kids has not seen any heat strokes this summer but has treated kids who got sick while practicing sports in the heat. She advises against participating in physical activities when sick because it can make a person more susceptible to heat-related illnesses and hinder recovery. Symptoms of heat illness in older kids include nausea, headaches, and confusion. Phillippi has observed kids pushing through these symptoms, especially during sports, without complaining.
