How to eat healthy during National Nutrition Month
SUMMARY: Texas has a higher obesity rate than the national average, prompting the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics to declare March as National Nutrition Month. KXAN anchors discussed dietary choices with dietitian Lily Beasley, emphasizing the nutritional differences between grocery store and restaurant foods, which often contain unhealthy fats, sugars, and sodium. Beasley encouraged people to enhance their diets by adding healthier foods rather than restricting them. She warned against fad diets like ketogenic, which can cause nutrient deficiencies. Additionally, she noted the link between diet, gut health, and mental well-being, suggesting that balanced nutrition positively impacts mood and energy levels.

She introduced House Bill 5419, aimed at enhancing legislative oversight and reallocating funds to directly support Texas students and teachers. Hinojosa emphasized a zero-based budgeting approach to reduce bureaucracy and prioritize critical areas like teacher pay and special education funding. Ukraine agrees to limited ceasefire as Trump mediates ceasefire deal
SUMMARY: Ukrainian President Zelensky has agreed to limit strikes on Russian energy infrastructure, contingent on Russia doing the same in Ukraine, marking a potential first step toward a broader ceasefire after three years of war. In a significant prisoner exchange, both nations returned 175 soldiers each, along with 22 seriously wounded Ukrainian soldiers released by Russia. As the U.S. mediates through President Trump’s calls with both leaders, peace seems closer, although Putin insists foreign military aid to Ukraine must cease. Meanwhile, Zelensky seeks more air defense support, with Trump promising to assist in acquiring more missiles from Europe.

Ukraine’s president agreed to limit strikes on energy infrastructure in Russia if Russia does the same in Ukraine. It would be a first step toward a broader ceasefire between the two; the first since Russia invaded the country three years ago. It comes as the U.S. is trying to mediate an end to the war.
