How to check your voter registration status
SUMMARY: With the election just 12 days away, checking your voter registration status is crucial to avoid being deemed ineligible. Recent headlines about over a million voters being removed from the rolls may be alarming. However, these removals predominantly concern deceased individuals or those who have relocated. To verify your registration in Texas, visit the Secretary of State’s website and provide your Texas driver’s license number, name and date of birth, or your voter unique identifier. If mistakenly listed as inactive, you can still vote by completing a statement of residence at the polls. For further voting info, text “vote” to 713 526 1111.

Election Day is 12 days away and the last thing you want after waiting in line is to find out you are ineligible to vote.

HPD update: 2 killed in crash caused by hit-and-run crash on Gulf Freeway
SUMMARY: A fatal hit-and-run accident occurred early this morning on the Gulf Freeway near Griggs, resulting in two female fatalities. Investigators believe the initial crash involved a black sedan, possibly rear-ended, which left the scene, leaving the vehicle stranded facing the wrong way. A female passenger in the sedan was either killed in the first impact or by a second collision. Two women in a Ford Explorer pulled over to assist, but as one exited, a blue sedan swerved and struck the stranded vehicle, killing the pedestrian. The male driver of the blue sedan was injured but is expected to survive.

Houston police said a hit-and-run crash disabled one vehicle on the freeway before another car crashed into the disabled vehicle.

Popular online food critic surprises Houston-area dessert shop with $50,000 donation
SUMMARY: Popular online food critic Keith Lee surprised Perland-area dessert shop owner Janelle Prader with a $50,000 donation, helping her expand her business. A year ago, the shop faced uncertainty, but Lee’s visit sparked massive support. Now, Prader is opening a larger location offering more than banana pudding and adding a food truck. The new space will create a comfortable environment for customers to relax and work. Grateful for the community’s love, Prader hopes to launch the food truck by April and the renovated shop by her birthday in May. Lee’s contribution brought her expansion dreams to fruition.

Keith Lee helped a Houston-area dessert shop tremendously when he did a review of their tasty treats last year.
This time, though, he brought a different kind of surprise in the form of $50,000.
Inside the small Pearland storefront, big things are happening for The Puddery owner Janel Prator. With Lee’s financial contribution, her expansion plans are coming to fruition sooner than expected.
