Meteorologist KPRC2 highlights the impact of storms like Allison and Harvey on Houston. Dr. Mustafa Moment, a researcher and hurricane survivor, focuses on improving models that currently underestimate hurricane intensity due to excessive friction factors. By reducing this friction in simulations, the forecasting accuracy of intensity has improved by up to 40%. This enhanced forecasting allows for timely decisions and better evacuation strategies, ultimately helping residents prepare for hurricane events more effectively.
