Hope Academy students send 'thank you' cards to first responders
SUMMARY: Local elementary students at Hope Academy are expressing gratitude to First Responders by creating thank-you cards for the upcoming 9/11 Appreciation Breakfast organized by the Women of Wisdom. Miss Kershaw’s second graders and Miss Hopkins’ third graders have contributed to a project that has produced over 1,000 cards in just two years. This initiative not only shows appreciation for those who risk their lives daily but also serves as a creative learning opportunity for students, many of whom weren’t born during the September 11 attacks. The celebration is scheduled for September 9th.
Some local elementary school students are using a creative way to say thanks to local first responders.

Gulfport Police warning residents of porch pirates
SUMMARY: Police in South Mississippi are warning residents about increasing package thefts, commonly known as porch piracy. Jen Mulla experienced this firsthand when a package delivered before Hurricane Franklin was stolen minutes after it arrived, captured by her doorbell camera. Authorities emphasize that these crimes are opportunistic, and encourage neighbors to watch for each other. While Mulla’s stolen package wasn’t crucial, the impact can vary greatly. With the holiday season approaching, officials recommend measures to prevent theft, such as having packages delivered to workplaces, holding them at post offices, or requesting signature confirmations upon delivery.
The suspect was seen stealing a package and fleeing in a white, four-door sedan.
