Homewood officer shot on his way to work, suspect
SUMMARY: A Homewood police officer is recovering in stable condition after being shot while en route to work in Moody. The shooting occurred at Ashley Manor Apartments; the suspect, 30-year-old Brandon Gaines, fled the scene and was later found in Kensington Park housing community. Following a four-hour standoff with police, Gaines turned the gun on himself. Officers initially negotiated and successfully disarmed him of two weapons. The investigation is ongoing to determine the motive behind the attack. Homewood PD expressed gratitude for the support received during this incident.

First Pensacola Wawa now open
