Holmes County Sheriff's Office faces employee shortage
SUMMARY: The Holmes County Sheriff’s Office in Mississippi is experiencing staffing shortages due to recent dismissals at the county jail. Sheriff Willie March reported the arrest of a detention officer for supplying marijuana to an inmate, leading to the firing of four others for smuggling contraband. March personally apprehended the officer and noted that surveillance footage confirmed the illicit activities. Additionally, low pay of $11 per hour has contributed to the shortage, with the sheriff advocating for increased wages to attract and retain staff.
