Holly Springs mayor accused of assaulting HR director

SUMMARY: Holly Springs Mayor Sharon Gipson has been accused of assaulting the town’s human resources director, Pat Dawson. Dawson claims that Gipson blocked her way and physically pushed and shoved her while she was carrying folders with job applications. Dawson believes the altercation happened because of community frustration with the Holly Springs Utility Department and her outspoken concerns about it. Gipson has not yet addressed the accusations, but Dawson has filed charges and wants action to be taken by the Board of Aldermen. A video of the incident was recorded but it is unclear if it will be released.

Three injured in crash on Clinton Boulevard
