Hinds County residents oppose proposed solar farm

SUMMARY: HINDS COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – Some residents in Hinds County are opposing a proposed solar farm near their homes. During a meeting with the Hinds County Planning Commission, opinions were divided. Apex Clean Energy representatives highlighted the benefits of clean electricity, while some Raymond residents voiced concerns about the impact on agriculture and wildlife. Justin Franklin noted the farm would cover 6,500 acres of farmland and wilderness, affecting local wildlife. The proposed solar farm would be fenced within 4,000 acres around Bolton and Raymond. The project was not approved, and another meeting is scheduled for June 17 with the Hinds County Board of Supervisors.
