WTOK & Wendy's partner to kick off “Pack the Backpack” campaign July 8th
SUMMARY: Wendy's and WT have partnered for the Pack the Backpack program to collect school supplies for kids. Meridian’s city pools open for summer holiday
SUMMARY: Meridian Pools are reopening to help beat the summer heat, according to an announcement made by Parks Director Thomas Adams at today's city council meeting. Velma Young Park pool, which has been closed for several years, will reopen starting tomorrow with hours from 1 to 4 PM. Highland Park Pool will also open tomorrow. Both pools will be closed on July 4th due to a lack of lifeguards but will reopen on Friday, with Velma Young Park pool hours remaining 1 to 4 PM and Highland Park Pool open from 1 to 5 PM. The reopening aims to provide fun summer activities for kids.
One way that you can beat the summer's heat is by getting in one of Meridian's pools.

Kids get to experience Camp Kamassa
SUMMARY: Camp Kamasa, catering to children with special needs, has completed its soft opening. Founded by Mary Kitchens, the camp aims to provide a worry-free, week-long camping experience for special needs kids in Mississippi. Planning began in 2007, and after starting construction in 2018, the camp welcomed its first campers this week. Director Bridget highlights the joy and sense of belonging the camp offers the children. Inspired by other states' facilities, Kitchens toured 14 locations to conceptualize Camp Kamasa. The camp is set to fully open in 2025. Jaylen Anderson from 12 News was present to document the impactful experience.
