High Rainfall Rates and Increased Risk of Flash Flooding in Jacksonville

The tropical moisture will elevate rainfall rates and increase flash flood risks. Winds are expected to reach tropical storm force in Jacksonville, despite the hurricane tracking south. This southward movement will result in onshore winds, raising the risk of storm surge flooding, with potential levels of 3 to 5 feet on the beach and 2 to 4 feet on the St. Johns River. The airport remains open, and locals are advised to stay safe and hunker down during the storm.
