Heritage Academy reaches agreement with LCSO to hire deputy as SRO
SUMMARY: Heritage Academy in Columbus, Mississippi has reached an agreement with Lowndes County to hire a deputy as a School Resource Officer. The officer will cover both the Elementary and High schools and will be paid by the school. The county will not incur any costs as they will be reimbursed by the school for the officer’s salary. When school is not in session, the deputy will be on regular duty with the sheriff’s office.

One killed, three injured during Rankin County crash
SUMMARY: A crash in Rankin County, Mississippi, resulted in one fatality and three injuries on Saturday, November 16. The incident occurred on U.S. 49 North near Star Road at around 6:15 p.m., involving a 2000 Grand Pontiac and a 2024 Hyundai. Ashley Holloman, a passenger in the Pontiac, was pronounced dead at the scene. The drivers and another passenger in the Hyundai were transported to the University of Mississippi Medical Center for unknown injuries. The Mississippi Highway Patrol is currently investigating the accident.
