A teenager who saved two toddlers from a “massive fire” in High Ridge in July will be recognized as a hero Monday afternoon, the city’s fire department said.
15-year-old Savannah Strother was babysitting the two children on July 9 when the home she was in caught fire.
“She acted without hesitation to get a 1-year-old and 3-year-old to safety without any injuries,” High Ridge Fire Protection District Fire Chief John Barton wrote on social media. “[She] was at a neighbor’s house babysitting two small children when a massive fire broke out, involving both the house she was in and [an adjacent] house.”

Officer shoots armed suspect after car break-ins in St. Louis, three arrested
SUMMARY: An officer-involved shooting occurred in Midtown St. Louis after police pursued a vehicle involved in several break-ins. Officers located the vehicle, which eventually crashed, and four suspects fled on foot. During a pursuit, a 25-year-old armed suspect was ordered to drop his weapon but was shot in the hip by two detectives. He was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. Eric DeValkenaere’s sentence commuted in Cameron Lamb killing

SUMMARY: Endrina Bracho, charged with involuntary manslaughter in the death of 12-year-old Travis Wolfe, was released from jail without bond one year after the crash. Bracho, who drove on the wrong side of the road at 75 mph, also faces charges of assault and child endangerment. Despite being considered a flight risk, she was freed on her own recognizance but must wear a monitoring device and cannot drive or contact the Wolfe family.
