Here are some tips to stay prepared for flooding
SUMMARY: To prepare for a storm, essential steps include closing windows, securing non-perishable food, and having extra clothing. Additionally, consider elevating appliances in flood-prone areas and unplugging them to prevent power surges. Keep a list of medications and ensure backup power for oxygen needs. Avoid opening the fridge or freezer during power outages, as food can stay cold for 4 hours in the fridge and 48 hours in the freezer. Move patio furniture indoors, secure loose items, and review important documents. Keep cars fueled and have an evacuation plan and go bag ready. Remember, “turn around, don’t drown.”
Closing your windows and having non-perishable food and extra clothes is a good place to start.
