SUMMARY: The state is experiencing record-breaking temperatures this summer, resulting in a severe drought. Farmers are facing significant challenges, with crops south of Interstate 20 expected to die due to the lack of moisture. Livestock is also being affected, as the dry conditions make it difficult for them to gain weight. Water and hay production are down, leading farmers to cull or liquidate their herds. Without rain in the next few weeks, there won’t be another cutting of hay before the fall, leaving farmers with low hay stock going into the winter. Farmers are urged to report their drought conditions to the USDA for relief measures.

Tupelo waiting on Target to make decision on new store

Volunteers requested for local “Grow-a-Row” program to combat hunger
