Hattiesburg teen places runner-up in duct tape scholarship competition
SUMMARY: Aubri Sparkman, a teenager from Hattiesburg, Mississippi, has become the runner-up in the annual “Stuck at Prom Scholarship Contest” for her duct tape dress. The 17-year-old artist spent 66 hours creating the dress using 14 rolls of duct tape, hot glue, zippers, and other materials. Sparkman’s dress was music-themed and included instruments she plays, such as the violin, electric guitar, piano, and tambourine. She received a $500 cash scholarship and a $100 Duck Brand prize package for her achievement. Sparkman’s love for music inspired her to incorporate it into her art.
