Harrison County Sheriff’s Department receives K9 training
SUMMARY: The Harrison County Sheriff’s Office recently participated in a K-9 Officer training session in Tennessee. The training, hosted by canines United, a national non-profit group supporting canine Law Enforcement Officers, spanned four days and involved close to 50 canine teams and EMS professionals from Tennessee and nine other states. The aim of the training was to provide the highest level of training in problem solving and Animal Care to ensure these K-9 units are well-equipped to protect and serve their communities.

Pathways2Possibilities Career Expo showcasing career paths for local eighth-graders
SUMMARY: The 11th annual Pathways to Possibilities Career Expo is being held at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum, offering eighth graders from South Mississippi the chance to explore careers through hands-on experiences. Featuring 19 career pathways such as law, health science, and marine science, the event expects over 7,000 students from 10 counties. Attendees will engage with professionals, ask career-related questions, and learn about industry opportunities. A study shows that 53% of students are working in fields aligned with Mississippi’s targeted industries. The event emphasizes career exploration and skill development, including options for certifications, two-year, and four-year degrees.

City of Ocean Springs announes new city-wide infrastructure projects
SUMMARY: Ocean Springs is launching over $10 million in infrastructure projects aimed at enhancing residents’ quality of life and supporting sustainable growth. Key initiatives include storm drain improvements on Davidson Road, an Eastside sewer diversion, sidewalk upgrades, and utility enhancements on Washington Avenue. Mayor Kenny Holloway emphasized that these projects are part of ongoing efforts, with $70 million in work completed, funded mostly by grants. The storm drainage projects alone total over $6 million, and the sidewalk upgrades are valued at $700,000. All five projects are expected to be completed by next year.

Every Monday in November, children with special needs enjoy the opportunity to ride horses, many for the first time. Volunteers, including the Highway Patrol, make the experience possible. Lise Robin Lader, who offers guided trail rides, has been involved for three years, sharing the joy of horseback riding with these kids.
