Hammond building fire causes road closure
SUMMARY: A fire at an abandoned warehouse near Lowe’s in Hammond, Louisiana, led to the temporary shutdown of part of Highway 190 West. Fire crews worked to extinguish the large blaze, which is now under investigation. Kmartโs blue light fades to black with the shuttering of its last full-scale US store

Son of man allegedly shot by SAPD officers wants better de-escalation tactics implemented
SUMMARY: In San Antonio, seven police officers fatally shot 34-year-old Roberto Gonzalez, who had a gun and was fleeing from police following an aggravated robbery. His son, Robert, criticizes the officers for failing to employ de-escalation tactics. Body camera footage showed Gonzalez attempting to escape before encountering officers at a fence, where he raised his gun. Police Chief William McManus stated he pointed his weapon at the officers, prompting the shooting. Robert seeks justice for his father, expressing concern over officers’ decision-making and the need for improved conflict resolution. The officers involved are currently on administrative duty during investigations.

Former LSU Sports Director
SUMMARY: Charles Bagley Jr., the former LSU Football Director of External Relations, tragically died in an accident in Tangipahoa Parish. The incident occurred on U.S. Highway 55 when Bagley’s car was struck while he was entering an intersection. After exiting his vehicle to check on the other driver, he was tragically hit by a Toyota Tundra. Known for his 20-year tenure at LSU, Bagley contributed to three national championships and four SEC titles. The crash is currently under investigation.
