Habitat, Elks team up to build wheelchair ramp at Petal home
SUMMARY: Habitat for Humanity of the Pine Belt and the Hattisburg Elk’s Lodge teamed up to build a custom wheelchair ramp for local resident Mark Creo, who has disabilities. The Elks Lodge received a $10,000 grant from the Elks National Foundation and donated lumber from a local Lowe’s store for the project. The ramp replaces an older one that was not meeting Creo’s needs. The partnership between Habitat and the Elks Lodge has been ongoing for 2 years, with a focus on improving the quality of life for individuals with disabilities in the community. The initiative began as part of the 20122 class of leadership Pine Belt.
