Gulfport woman arrested for assaulting officer after initially reporting crime
SUMMARY: On Thursday morning, Daronda Monique Jackson, 49, visited the Gulfport Police Station to report a hit-and-run incident. However, officers informed her of multiple outstanding misdemeanor warrants, leading to her pending arrest. While an officer spoke to a juvenile in her car, Jackson entered the driver’s seat and unexpectedly drove in reverse, dragging an officer and striking a nearby sign. She fled the scene but was later apprehended by the Biloxi Police after a brief chase. Jackson is currently held on a $250,000 bond at the Harrison County Adult Detention Center.
