Gulfport teen gearing up for racing season

SUMMARY: Tyler Smith, a 15-year-old student from Gulfport High, comes from a family with a racing background. He began racing go-karts at a young age and is now competing in the National crate Street Stock division. Last year, his team finished in the top 150 of all racers in the category. Smith participated in Outlaw Speedway’s practice day to prepare for the upcoming racing season. He talked about his family’s involvement in the sport, stating that he and his grandparents run the entire show. Outlaw Speedway’s opening day is on March 11th, with gates opening at 4 PM. Tickets start at $15, and children under five can enter for free.
