Gulfport summer camp aims to push anti-violence message to kids, teens
SUMMARY: Efforts to prevent teenage gun violence are being emphasized at the Youth for Tomorrow summer camp in Gulfport, where State Representative Jeffrey Hullum and community leader Janine Casey Handy advocate for early intervention. Hullum stresses the importance of reaching children when they are most impressionable to prevent future violence. Handy, who has dedicated over 20 years to helping children, shares her pain over a recent incident involving teenagers and urges parents to recognize and address their kids’ issues. Hullum also commends Gulfport police for their efforts and calls for more free youth programs to keep kids in positive environments.

What is the community doing to prevent teenage gun violence? Police agree it starts at home and it needs to start at an early age.
