Gulfport man to serve life sentence for sexual battery of child

A man will spend the rest of his in prison after being convicted of molesting a child for more than six years.

Judge Larry Bourgeois 67-year-old William Issac Arnold after a three-day trial. The jury took just half an hour before returning the guilty verdict on the three counts of sexual battery. Arnold got life on the first count, 30 years on the second count and 30 years on the third count. The sentences will concurrently.

MSU boasts two Rhodes Scholarship finalists

SUMMARY: Two seniors from the Judy and Bobby Shackouls Honors College at Mississippi , Sydney Denton and Devin Hutchins, have been named Rhodes Scholarship finalists. Denton, a double major in history and political science, will interview in Denver, while Hutchins, studying philosophy and economics, will interview in Birmingham. They are the eighth and ninth MSU finalists in 13 years, recognized for their academic achievements, leadership, and commitment to community service. Both have contributed significantly to campus and social issues, reflecting the Rhodes Trust’s values of impactful change.
