SUMMARY: Mississippi’s federal lawmakers have united in urging President Trump to approve Governor Tate Reeves’ request for a federal disaster declaration after severe storms on March 14–15 killed seven, injured nearly 30, and caused significant damage across 25 counties. The National Weather Service confirmed 18 tornadoes touched down. Senators Wicker and Hyde-Smith and Representatives Thompson, Kelly, Guest, and Ezell signed a bipartisan letter supporting expedited aid and individual assistance for 14 counties. Governor Reeves emphasized the urgent need for federal help, despite ongoing state efforts. If approved, this would mark Trump’s first FEMA action since criticizing the agency and threatening cuts.
