Groups calls for Mississippi lawmakers to close healthcare coverage gap

The issue is that these individuals make too much for Medicaid, but not enough for private insurance. This leaves citizens like Lakeisha Preston, who has medical debt and makes too much money to qualify for government assistance, in dire financial situations. 8 bills have been filed in the current legislative session to expand Medicaid and shorten the coverage gap. However, Governor Tate Reeves has expressed disdain for these bills and would likely veto if passed.
