Greyhound resumes service in Jackson after stopping operations for over a year
SUMMARY: Greyhound has resumed its bus services in Mississippi’s capital, Jackson, after a year-long hiatus due to unsatisfactory conditions at Union Station. The company has re-established its previous location on West Capitol Street, offering two daily routes: westbound to Shreveport and Dallas, and eastbound to Birmingham and Atlanta. Greyhound’s return coincides with the holiday season, offering Jackson’s residents access to more travel options. The relocation follows a temporary shift to Love’s Travel Stop in Flowood and subsequent improvements at Union Station. Tickets are available on the Greyhound website and app. U.S. Congressman Bennie Thompson welcomed the service’s return.

Healthcare leaders gather at state capitol to advocate for Medicaid expansion
SUMMARY: Healthcare leaders and advocates in Mississippi gathered at the state capitol to urge lawmakers to expand Medicaid, a move supported by figures such as Kimberly Hughes from the American Cancer Society and Dr. Dan Jones, former vice chancellor at the University of Mississippi. They argue that Medicaid expansion could bring billions in federal dollars, support struggling hospitals, and provide healthcare to over 200,000 people. Despite opposition from Governor Reeves, who calls it “welfare expansion,” advocates remain hopeful that the conversation will continue. Legislators aim to navigate challenges, including Trump’s potential Medicaid overhaul, to find a solution that meets the state’s needs.
