Texas General Land Office to unveil proposed 1,402-acre site for immigrant detention
SUMMARY: The Texas General Land Office is proposing a 1,400-acre ranch in Star County as a potential site for housing migrants before their deportation. A drone view revealed minimal structures, just fields and a road, with cement trucks seen entering the property. The Office sent President-elect Donald Trump a letter suggesting the ranch for detention centers. A political science professor raised concerns about the feasibility of detaining millions of people in such a limited space. Trump has yet to comment. A news conference is scheduled to provide further details, and local residents will discuss the implications of the new administration for the border area.

BlackWolf, armed rideshare service, is expanding to Austin | FOX 7 Austin
SUMMARY: Carri King Brown founded Blackwolf in May 2023, an on-demand ride service that employs armed drivers to enhance passenger safety. Unlike Uber and Lyft, which prohibit firearms for drivers and riders, Blackwolf insists on vetted drivers with backgrounds in law enforcement or security. Recent incidents in the ride-sharing industry — including assaults and violent crimes — highlight perceived safety gaps, prompting interest in armed drivers. Blackwolf drivers have a minimum of four years of relevant experience and aim to provide a more personalized service at a slightly higher price. The company is expanding and hopes to start operations in Austin soon.
