Green Cup Ordinance takes effect Sept. 15 in Columbus

SUMMARY: Starting September 15, of Columbus, Mississippi will be able to walk around certain of the with an alcoholic beverage in a green cup. The Green Cup Ordinance allows patrons of restaurants and bars to these establishments with their drinks in a specially marked cup. The policy also permits entry into other businesses with the green cup, as long as the business owners allow it. However, the only applies to two designated entertainment districts in the city. Signs will indicate where the green cup is prohibited. This new law takes effect on Friday, September 15.
