Gov. Beshear: 'Incident management team' sent to assist with disaster recovery in North Carolina

Could Lexingtonโs Mental Health Responders be Modeled Statewide?
SUMMARY: Lexington’s First Responders now have a community crisis co-response team to address sensitive mental health calls, thanks to a three-year Federal grant received in January. The grant supports overtime for 45 specially trained police officers and funds a full-time mental health professional to assist on these calls. This initiative aims to divert individuals with mental health issues away from jail and towards treatment. Lexington typically sees 3,000 mental health-related emergency calls annually. City officials and lawmakers express optimism for the program’s success, highlighting the importance of officer safety and available mental health support during crisis situations.

LFD called after UK fans celebrate victory on State Street
SUMMARY: After today‘s victory, fans in Lexington took to the streets to celebrate by setting couches and furniture on fire on State Street. Despite the chaos, the Lex Tim fire department quickly responded and extinguished the fire.
