Gov. Abbott on 1M+ removed from Texas voter rolls
SUMMARY: In Texas, nearly a million names were removed from voter rolls as part of an ongoing process to ensure eligibility for the upcoming November election. State officials claim this cleanup aims to eliminate ineligible voters, especially noncitizens, though critics accuse the administration of voter suppression. Governor Abbott emphasized the need for fair elections, while opponents argue that the process targets minority voters to maintain Republican power. The review identified many deceased individuals and noncitizens on the rolls, with ongoing debates about Harris County’s election practices. Despite claims of widespread fraud, concrete evidence remains elusive.

Duncanville ISD changes entrance policy for football games after threats
SUMMARY: Recent violent acts and false threats have prompted changes in local athletic events. Some districts altered game schedules and implemented new security measures. Duncanville ISD introduced an admission policy requiring students to have current IDs and be accompanied by a parent. This decision was made after receiving threats similar to those reported at other nearby schools. Increased security has been implemented across campuses, and communication with parents has emphasized monitoring children‘s social media. The community remains shaken by recent violence, including the shooting deaths of two students. Duncanville ISD plans to reassess the admission policy as the season progresses.
