'Good Times' actor John Amos dies at 84 | FOX 5 News
SUMMARY: Tributes are flooding in for legendary actor John Amos, who passed away at 84 from natural causes on August 21, though his death was not made public until recently. Amos became a household name in the 1970s for his role as Kunta Kinte in the acclaimed miniseries “Roots” and as James Evans Sr. in the popular series “Good Times.” His impactful performances left a lasting legacy in television history, earning him recognition and admiration from fans and peers alike.
John Amos, the actor known for “Good Times,” “Roots,” “Coming to America” and so many more iconic roles died in August. His family made the news of his passing public on October 1.

Hastings earns Masters invitation at Latin America Amateur Championship
SUMMARY: Justin Hastings of the Cayman Islands won the 2025 Latin America Amateur Championship in Buenos Aires, securing an invitation to the Masters Tournament. Beaufort County MLK Day events to cause travel delays
