SUMMARY: Urinary tract infections (UTIs) affect about half of women and 10% of men in the U.S., posing a serious health risk as they can lead to sepsis. Health reporter Haley Hernandez highlights that while antibiotics are the main treatment, it’s vital to get a urine test to identify the proper antibiotic, as misuse can cause bacterial resistance. Preventative methods include cranberry supplements, which have proven effective. A new vaccine, Euroimmun, is being reviewed to prevent recurring UTIs, though it’s not yet available. For women with frequent UTIs, further evaluation may be necessary to check for anatomical issues.

About half of women in the U.S. get urinary tract infections at some point in their life. About 10% of men can get them. A vaccine called Uromune is under review now to stop recurring urinary tract infections, which cause thousands of men and women to suffer with painful urination every year.

SUMMARY: Authorities are investigating a fire at an apartment complex in West Houston where approximately 19 cars were burned. The incident began with a pickup truck that caught fire and quickly spread to nearby vehicles. Firefighters arrived around 4:30 AM to contain the blaze and ensure no hot spots remained. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, as neighbors alerted others in the area by knocking on doors. Eyewitnesses described the rapid spread of the flames, and officials are working with a public information officer to determine the cause of the fire.

It’s unclear what started the fire, but HFD said no injuries were reported.
