SUMMARY: Hurricane Milton struck Florida last night, causing severe damage despite downgrading from a category 5 storm. The hurricane made landfall near Siesta Key as a category 3 storm with sustained winds of 120 mph, impacting the Gulf Coast and sparing the Tampa Bay area from the worst.
