SUMMARY: Meteorologist Chase Ward reports clear and cool conditions this morning, with temperatures in the mid to lower 50s and some upper 40s in southern Arkansas. A jacket is advisable for outdoor activities. By this afternoon, highs will reach the mid 80s, continuing a warming trend into the . In Florida, Hurricane Milton has intensified to Category 5 and is expected to make landfall south of Tampa tonight, with severe storm surges and winds impacting the area. Locally, dry conditions persist, contributing to ongoing drought, though a possible shift in winds may alleviate some fire hazards by weekend.

A dry airmass remains in place across the ArkLaMiss and will stay in place at least through Friday. By saturday, winds will begin to shift southerly allowing for dewpoints to climb. This will in turn with the current fire threat due to the very dry conditions. Milton will track east and make landfall in Florida tonight and track eastward into the Atlantic.
