SUMMARY: The Joint Blue-Ribbon Committee on Licensing Issues in Georgia, initiated by Lt. Gov. Burt Jones and House Speaker John Burns, addressed ongoing problems with the professional licensing board despite recent improvements. The secretary of state‘s office introduced the Georgia Online Application Licensing System (GOALS), which has contributed to high call volumes but improved response times. Legislative proposals include allowing division directors to expedite license issuance and enhancing interstate compacts for out-of-state workers, as highlighted by panel members citing urgent needs during crises.
