SUMMARY: Early in Spring State, Georgia, saw a record turnout with over 328,000 ballots cast, marking a 123% increase from the previous record of 136,000 in 2020. However, a judge has paused a new Georgia State Election Board rule requiring to hand count ballots at each polling location, citing a lack of protocols and personnel to implement the changes so close to election day. A hearing is for to further discuss the matter. This situation highlights both the enthusiasm for voting and the challenges facing election officials.

The 2024 election is already turning out to be a record year in Georgia, where the record for the number of ballots cast on the first day of early voting was shattered Tuesday.
