Critics argued it undermined Jackson’s local authority, while proponents believe the court will help reduce crime. Mississippi Supreme Court Chief Justice Michael Randolph appointed three local judges. The court will handle misdemeanor offenses, traffic citations, and initial felony appearances, with all fines directed to Jackson.
