Born during Calvin Coolidge’s presidency, Brown has witnessed the presidencies of 17 U.S. presidents and 24 Mississippi governors. A Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps, he served in the Pacific Theater during World War II, receiving several honors, including the Combat Action ribbon. As the last living founder of his church, he played a crucial role in its history and leadership over 69 years with only three pastors. The Mississippi Senate also recognized him, gifting him a state flag.
A veteran celebrated his 100th birthday on Saturday.
