Trump proposes 'getting rid of FEMA' while visiting North Carolina
SUMMARY: During his visit to hurricane-affected North Carolina, President Trump indicated he might eliminate FEMA, describing it as “very bureaucratic” and failing in its disaster response role. Advocating for state-led disaster management, he suggested that local governments could handle emergencies more efficiently. Trump’s comments come as he plans to tour wildfire-stricken areas in California, where he criticized state water policies. His history of politicizing disaster relief has drawn backlash, with critics arguing that federal aid should be impartial. Despite past controversies, some constituents express hope for improved support under Trump’s leadership amidst ongoing recovery efforts.

Jones calls new initiatives a ‘state-level DOGE’ | Georgia
SUMMARY: Lt. Gov. Burt Jones announced the “Red Tape Rollback Act of 2025,” aimed at reducing bureaucracy in Georgia by requiring state agencies to review their regulations every four years. The bill, which follows a previous, unsuccessful attempt by Jones, also allows lawmakers to request a “Small Business Impact Analysis” for pending legislation. Highlighting the need for deregulation, Jones compared the initiative to President Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency. A report noted Georgia has over 18,160 regulations, with more than half requiring review. Critics like J. Thomas Perdue emphasize the essential nature of some regulations for safety and quality control.

Focusing on teachers, school bus drivers’ mental health
SUMMARY: Teaching and bus driving are among the most stressful jobs, significantly impacting both professionals’ and students’ lives. Teachers not only educate but also form emotional bonds with students, which can affect their mental health. This stress contributes to a shortage of educators, despite an increasing demand for teachers. Bus drivers also experience similar stress, with many facing shortages nationwide. Despite these challenges, some teachers and bus drivers continue to persevere due to their passion for the job. To support mental health, experts recommend sleep, exercise, balanced nutrition, and seeking help when needed.
