Funerals set for Mississippi National Guardsmen killed in helicopter crash

SUMMARY: The Mississippi National Guard will hold public funerals for two fallen Army aviators, Chief Warrant Officer 4 Derek Joshua Abbott and Chief Warrant Officer 4 Bryan Andrew Zemek. The services will take place at the Itawamba Community College Davis Event Center in Fulton, Mississippi on March 17 and 18, 2024 respectively. The public is invited to line the procession route to pay respects. Abbott and Zemek died in a helicopter crash on February 23, 2024 during a training flight near Booneville. Abbott leaves behind a wife and three children, while Zemek is survived by his wife and four children.
