Funeral set for toddler allegedly killed by mother in Southaven

SUMMARY: A visitation will be held for two-year-old Jastiny, who was killed in Southaven last month by her mother who is now charged with capital murder. Jastiny’s grandmother, Towana Johnson, who was caring for her and her brother says the system failed them. Johnson found Jastiny unresponsive in her room. Jastiny’s mother suffered from severe mental illness, and despite efforts to get her help, the system failed them. The mother is currently in jail, and Jastiny’s visitation and funeral will be held soon. Mental health resources are available for those in need.
