Chatham County DA hosts free expungement clinic for new start
SUMMARY: Chatham County, Ga. is hosting a free expungement clinic to help individuals with minor criminal records take advantage of Georgia’s 2020 “Second Chance law.” This law allows over 1.5 million people to potentially seal their records, particularly for minor offenses like traffic violations and nonviolent misdemeanors. Serious crimes, including felonies and domestic violence, remain ineligible for expungement. The event, held at Live Oak Library’s Southwest Branch from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., aims to assist those facing barriers in employment and education due to their records. It is open to eligible residents on a first-come, first-served basis.
