Full press conference on former Lauderdale Co. teacher charged with making terroristic threats
SUMMARY: Meridian law enforcement investigated a social media threat made earlier this week, leading to a search warrant served last night on 64th Court. The FBI assisted after the investigation revealed that Daniel Christian Johnson, 36, had a history of concerning postings. He was arrested and charged with making terroristic threats, currently without bond, with a hearing scheduled for Tuesday. The threats primarily targeted school personnel but were not aimed at any particular school. Multiple agencies collaborated on the investigation, and further details will emerge as federal inquiries continue. Community vigilance is credited for the timely response.

Sheriff Ward Calhoun said Johnson was arrested after the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Department and Meridian Police Department partnered with the FBI to search his home Thursday night.

DOJ investigating the Rankin County Sheriff's Department
SUMMARY: The Department of Justice has initiated a civil rights investigation into the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department following the arrest and sentencing of multiple deputies for the sexual assault and brutal assault of two Black men in Morton. The investigation will focus on three main issues: excessive force, unlawful stops and searches, and discriminatory policing practices. In response, the Sheriff’s Office stated via Facebook that they aim to enhance their transparency during this inquiry.
