From Lexington club to Olympic history: A look at two-time gold medalist Lee Kiefer
SUMMARY: Lee Kefir, a University of Kentucky student, made history by winning back-to-back gold medals in foil fencing, a first for the sport. Trained at the Bluegrass Fencing Club by coach Amad Cebok, Kefir has dedicated over 20 years to perfecting her skills. Her recent victory in Paris adds to her 2020 gold medal. The club, which has produced Olympic athletes, celebrated her achievement with over 20 members in attendance. Kefir’s success not only reflects her hard work but also brings joy to people worldwide. Coach Cebok expressed gratitude for the support from the University of Kentucky, allowing Kefir to pursue her Olympic dream.
Amgad Khazbak built the Bluegrass Fencers Club and is now the owner and head coach. Students who come in and out the club know firsthand its a place where Olympic dreams are born. They know two 2024 Olympians, because they train with Lee Kiefer and her husband Gerek Meinhardt.

Louisville comes out on top with 49-14 victory over Jacksonville State
SUMMARY: In the second week of college football, Louisville faced Jacksonville State and secured a decisive 49-14 victory. Chilly tonight, Pleasant on Sunday

Laurel County I-75 shooting: Person of interest identified, 'numerous' people shot
SUMMARY: Police are searching for Joseph A. Couch, a person of interest in a shooting incident on I-75 in Laurel County. Several individuals were injured, though not all sustained gunshot wounds. The area remains tense, with I-75’s north and southbound lanes reopened, while US-25 is still closed. The LCSO posted on Facebook around 6:40 p.m. Saturday that I-75 has been closed in both directions at Exit 49 U.S. 25.
